Fisherman’s Beach Holiday Park in Emu Park on the Capricorn Coast took home the Caravan Parks Association of Queensland (CPAQ) Refurbishment Award for 2020.

The CPAQ Award’s Presentation provided the opportunity to showcase several Queensland caravan parks and individuals working within caravan parks highlighting the continued innovation within the sector.

Michelle Weston, General Manager of CPAQ said the judging for these awards was incredibly tough this year with many quality nominations across all categories. “This award celebrates a refurbishment that has made a significant difference to the caravan park and their guests and is determined by the impact the refurbishment has had on their business and the guest experience,” said Ms Weston.

“The quality of the refurbishments nominated for this years award was outstanding and the judges reported that picking a winner was challenging due to the differing scope and budget of each project.”

The winner this year, Fisherman’s Beach Holiday Park, offers an amazing location and a wonderfully warm greeting on arrival resulting in fabulous feedback from all their guests about their customer service and cleanliness.

The only thing that was letting them down was an aging amenities block. It was clear it was time for a refurbishment.

The Next Generation Holiday Parks and Fisherman’s Beach Holiday Park team made the decision to invest in a modern, well equipped and environmentally friendly amenities block.

They tore down the old block and started from scratch. Together with their building partner Asset Cabins and Homes, they set to work designing a modern, well-equipped and environmentally friendly amenities block. They added additional shower and toilets to boost capacity and a range of modern features:

• Easy to clean but non-slip resin flooring
• Nuvex graffiti, mould, chemical and impact resistant toilet and shower partitioning
• Wall facing dual-flush toilets
• Floor to ceiling tiles
• Frameless glass shower screens
• Folding seats in the drying area
• Jet hand dryers
• Combined disabled and family bathroom
• Environmental initiatives like water-saving showerheads, integrated shower timers, timed mixer taps, time/daylight sensor LED lighting, sensor exhaust fans, solar whirlybirds, waterless urinals, natural ventilation and rainwater tanks

The feedback on the new amenities block has been spectacular. The park has had a flood of guest comments over the summer commenting on their quality and cleanliness and the staff find it easier to clean than ever before.

The new amenities block at Fisherman’s Beach Holiday Park is a shining example of the refurbishments happening in caravan parks right across Queensland.
